Penfolds

RWT Shiraz, 1997
Barossa Valley, Austrailia

This incredible Shiraz is the product of Penfolds' Red Winemaking Trial started in 1995. Some people rate this mature, full bodied Shiraz over the Penfolds Grange at three times the price!

Best price: £30

Recommendation: Brilliant - but not an every day red.

Two Hands

Shiraz, 2000
McLaren Vale, Austrailia

This is an incredible Shiraz from McLaren Vale. Although more expensive than many of the Shiraz wines reviewed, the Two Hands provides great value with it's rich berry - mocha taste.

Best price: £20

Recommendation: An incredible wine- get some if you can!

Rosemount

Shiraz - Cabernet, 2002
South Austrailia

Gold medalist at the Perth 2002 Wine show, this Shiraz - Cabernet is young, affordable, and tastes great!

Best price: £4.45

Recommendation: Buy, buy, buy!

Lloyd

Shiraz, 1998
McLaren Vale, Austrailia

A rich, full bodied Shiraz, with plenty of go!

Best price: £17

Recommendation: Great - be prepared!

Coriole

Nebbiolo, 1998
McLaren Vale, Austrailia

Every now and then, we like to try something different. Nebbiolo gives a light red, ideal for subbtle meat dishes and those summer nights!

Best price: £8

Recommendation:

Wyndham Estate

Bin 555 Shiraz, 1998

This Shiraz has a typically rich, full bodied flavour, with no bitter after-taste. Although a Shiraz, this red is not too heavy, and light enough for regular drinking.

Recommendation: Definitely buy another!

Rosemount Estate

Show Reserve Shiraz, 1997
Mclaren Vale, Austrailia

This particular Shiraz brings a gorgeous first taste - broad, aged and woody. As a full bodied wine, thought needs to be given to the appropriate palate.

Best price: £12

Recommendation: A good weekender.

Saint Clair

Merlot, 1999
Marlborough, Austrailia

This is a relatively dry Merlot, with a tight, fruity flavour.

Recommendation: Pleasant, but nothing to write home about.
